FOSTER
Fostering is a highly rewarding experience that benefits homeless animals and is fun for you and your family! As a foster parent, you are an invaluable part of our Black Cat Animal Rescue’s life-saving team by providing a comfortable environment until your foster is ready for their fur-ever home. This also creates the opportunity to allow these animals to be in a more relaxed and calm environment through the duration of their time with us. With your help and time, this program can continue to grow so we can save more animals each year.
Some animals in need of fostering are simply too young for adoption, need extra love and socialization to become confident family pets, or are recovering from a surgical procedure. Fostering gives us the opportunity to provide all of these special animals with what they need until they are ready to find their forever homes.
Fostering is ideal for animal lovers who are:
-Wanting to see if they are ready for the lifelong commitment of pet adoption
-Families—fostering is a great way to teach kids about responsible pet ownership, compassion, and helping others!
-Anyone who is looking for a way to truly make a difference in an animal’s life

EDUCATION
Help us educate our community on animal rescue and the importance of it! At Black Cat Animal Rescue, we pride ourselves on ensuring our animals are healthy and happy before allowing them to be adopted. We perform spay/neuter procedures , heartworm tests, full vaccinations , deworming , flea /tick/ heartworm preventative and microchip procedures. Additionally, if we take in an injured or sick animal, we provide full healthcare before adoption. We are a non-kill rescue, so our animals will remain in our care until they find their fur-ever home.
Interesting facts about rescues and shelters across America:
1.Pet “overpopulation” encompasses two primary factors: (1) allowing cats and dogs to reproduce with little chance to find homes for the offspring and (2) pets being relinquished by owners who can no longer keep their animals, or who no longer want them.
2. Every year, millions of cats and dogs are euthanized in our nation’s animal shelters because there are more pets than there are responsible homes for them.
3. Taxpayers waste $2 billion every year while euthanizing animals in animal rescue shelters
4. Around 25% of dogs in animal rescue shelters are “pure bred” dogs
5. Owner surrenders account for more than 30% of animal rescue shelter animals
6. Animal rescue is not just for dogs and cats.
7. There are more homeless animals than people.
